Daily life with a child with ADHD
At home — how to create a safe and predictable rhythm?
In families with children with ADHD, introducing tools and methods to organize and structure daily tasks often works very well, for example:
Fixed daily schedule,
Short and clear instructions,
Checklists and planners,
Movement as a basic means of regulation,
Acceptance of emotions, including difficult ones.
Remember, ADHD symptoms, such as difficulty organizing, forgetfulness, and impulsive behavior, are not chaos – they are a different way and rhythm of functioning, resulting from the characteristics of the nervous system, and not from the child's will.
Relating to a child with ADHD – the foundation of support.
Children with ADHD hear more comments, criticism, and corrections than praise or words of appreciation. However, what they need most is to hear: "I know this is difficult for you. I'm here."
A parent doesn't need to be perfect – they just need to be calm, predictable, and kind.
Cooperation instead of fighting.
The counseling center's opinion helps to establish rules for work at school, such as:
Shortened tasks,
more breaks for movement,
sitting close to the teacher,
Clear and positive feedback.
Often, teachers lack the necessary tools – therefore, true support begins with good communication.
